MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS
Acting Members present: Murray Calder for David Iftody.
The Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-6, An Act to provide for an integrated system of land and water management in the Mackenzie Valley, to establish certain boards for that purpose and to make consequential amendments to other Acts. (See Minutes of Proceedings dated Tuesday, November 18, 1997, Meeting No.6)
On Clause 2.
Louise Hardy moved, -- That Bill C-6, in Clause 2, be amended by replacing lines 20 to 23 on page 2 with the following:
"tion, and the Sahtu First Nation"
After debate, the question being put on the amendment, it was negatived.
Bernard Patry moved, -- That Bill C-6, in Clause 2, be amended by replacing lines 20 and 21 on page 2 with the following:
"tion, the Sahtu First Nation or any body representing other Dene or Metis of the North"
After debate, John Bryden moved, -- That the amendment be further amended in the English version by replacing the words "any body" with the following:
"bodies"
After debate, the question being put on the sub-amendment, it was agreed to.
Claude Bachand moved, -- That the amendment be further amended in the French version
"aux lignes 29 et 30"
"des Gwich'in ou celle du Sahtu, tous les organismes"
After debate, the question being put on the sub-amendment, it was agreed to.
The question being put on the amendment as amended, it was agreed to.
