The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development met at 3:37 o’clock p.m., this day, in room 705 La Promenade Building, the Chair, Guy Saint-Julien, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Claude Bachand, John Bryden, John Finlay, Gerald Keddy, Derrek Konrad, Judi Longfield, Bernard Patry, Guy Saint-Julien, Mike Scott and Bryon Wilfert.
Acting Members present: Denis Coderre for Nancy Karetak-Lindell, Gordon Earle for Louise Hardy and Myron Thompson for Grant McNally.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Mary C. Hurley and Jill Wherrett, Research Officers.
Appearing: The Honourable Jane Stewart, Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development.
Witnesses: From the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs: John Sinclair, Assistant Deputy Minister, Claims and Indian Government; Brent Dibartolo, Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Services.
In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to an examination of the programs, expenditures and performance of the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development.
The Honourable Jane Stewart made a statement and, with the witnesses, answered questions.
At 4:45 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
