Thursday, October 22, 1998
The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development met at 9:04 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Guy St-Julien, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Peter Adams, Claude Bachand, John Bryden, John Finlay Louise Hardy, David Iftody, Gerald Keddy, Derrek Konrad, Judi Longfield, Mike Scott, Guy St-Julien and Bryon Wilfert.
Acting Member present: John Richardson for Nancy Karetak-Lindell.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Mary Hurley and Jill Wherrett, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From the Office of the Auditor General of Canada: L. Denis Desautels, Auditor General of Canada; Grant Wilson, Principal; Don Young, Assistant Auditor General.
In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to the study Chapter 14 of the September 1998 Report of the Auditor General of Canada (Indian and Northern Affairs Canada - Comprehensive Land Claims). Denis Desautels made an opening statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
At 11:16 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
