Thursday, May 28, 1998

The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met in camera at 11:19. o’clock a.m., this day, in Room 362-E, East Block, the Chair, Stan Dromisky, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Jean Augustine, Norman Doyle, Stan Dromisky, Raymonde Folco, Steve Mahoney, Réal Ménard, Maria Minna and Jacques Saada.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Margaret Young, Research Officer.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of Recommendation 155 of the Report of the Legislative Review Advisory Group entitled "Not just Numbers: A Canadian Framework for Future Immigration", particularly issues relating to removal and detention. (See Minutes of Proceeding of Wednesday, February 18, 1998, Meeting No. 10.)

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

At 12:19 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
