The Sub-Committee on International Trade, Trade Disputes and Investment of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Mac Harb, presiding.

Member(s) of the Sub-Committee present: Bill Casey, Mark Eyking, Mac Harb, Gary Lunn, Pat O'Brien, Pierre Paquette.

Members present: Rick Casson, Joe Comuzzi.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Peter Berg, Blayne Haggart.

Witnesses: From the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: Susan M.W. Cartwright, Acting Assistant Deputy Minister, Europe, Middle East and North Africa; John Curtis, Senior Policy Advisor and Coordinator, Trade and Economic Analysis Division; Serge Marcoux, Director, Baltic, Central European and EFTA Cuontries Division; Brian Oak, Director, Policy and Strategic Planning Division; Claudio Valle, Director, Technical Barriers and Regulations; Ross Miller, A/Director, European Union Division. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) a study on Canada's Economic Relations with Europe.

Susan Cartwright made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 4:30 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:35 p.m., the sitting resumed.

The witnesses each made statements and answered questions.

At 5:15 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:18 p.m., the sitting resumed, in camera.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), a study on Softwood Lumber.

It was agreed, unanimously, - That the draft report (as amended) and adopted be presented by the Chair to the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

At 5:35 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
