The Sub-Committee on International Trade, Trade Disputes and Investment of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Mac Harb, presiding.
Member of the Sub-Committee present: Mac Harb.
Acting Members present: Joe Comartin for Svend Robinson, John Duncan for Rick Casson, Francine Lalonde for Pierre Paquette, and Susan Whelan for Tony Valeri.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Peter Berg, Research Officer.
Witnesses: From the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: Marc Lortie, Assistant Deputy Minister (Americas); Jon Allen, Director General, North America Bureau. From the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency: Brian Brimble, Director General, Operational Policy and Coordination Directorate, Customs Branch; Brian Jones, Director, Import Process Division, Operational Policy and Coordination Directorate. From the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters: Perrin Beatty, President. From the Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers' Association: David C. Adams, Vice-President of Policy. From the Canadian Trucking Alliance: David Bradley, Chief Executive Officer; Massimo Bergamini, Vice-President, Public Affairs.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) - Study on U.S. - Canada Border delays.
Marc Lortie, Brian Brimble, Brian Jones, Denis Lefebvre made opening statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
At 4:55 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 4:57 p.m., the sitting resumed.
Perrin Beatty, David Adams and David Bradley made opening statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
It was agreed – That the document of speaking notes for the Hon. Perrin Beatty presented to the Sub-Committee by the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters be taken as read.
It was agreed – That the document of speaking notes for David Adams presented to the Sub-Committee by the Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers’ Association be taken as read.
At 5:50 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
