The Sub-Committee on International Trade, Trade Disputes and Investment of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Mac Harb, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Bill Casey, Rick Casson, Mark Eyking, Mac Harb, Pat O’Brien, and Tony Valeri.
Acting Members present: Francine Lalonde for Pierre Paquette.
Other Members present: John Duncan.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Peter Berg and Michael Holden, Research Officers.
Witnesses: Hon. Muhammad Jamiruddin Sircar, M.P., Speaker of the Parliament of Bangladesh; Mr. Al-Hajj Md. Jahed Ali Chowdhury, M.P., Whip, Member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party; Mr. Al-haj Abdul Alim, M.P., Member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party; Mr. M. Ilias Ali, M.P., Member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party; Mr. Nasimul Ghani, Private Secretary to the Speaker; His Excellency Mohsin Ali Khan, High Commissioner of the People's Republic of Bangladesh; Mr. Abdul Hannan, Minister and Deputy Chief of High Commission of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.
By unanimous consent, the
Sub-Committee proceeded to meet with a delegation of parliamentarians from
Bangladesh.
At 4:04 p.m., the sitting
was suspended.
At 4:09 p.m., by unanimous consent, the Sub-Committee proceeded to sit in camera.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Sub-Committee resumed its study of an examination of the Free Trade Area of the Americas in view of strengthening economic relations between Canada and the Americas, (See Minutes of Proceedings of Wednesday, January 30, 2002, Meeting no. 17).
The Sub-Committee considered a draft report on the examination of the Free Trade Area of the Americas in view of strengthening economic relations between Canada and the Americas.
At 5:08 p.m., the Sub-Committee adjourned to the
call of the Chair.
