Tuesday, May 30, 2000

The Standing Committee on Industry met at 3:39 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Susan Whelan, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Pierre Brien, John Cannis, Walt Lastewka, Gurbax Malhi, Dan McTeague, Jerry Pickard and Susan Whelan.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Geoffrey Kieley, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From the Canadian Tourism Commission: Terry Francis, President and Gerald Bailie, Executive Assistant.

The Order of Reference dated Wednesday, May 10, 2000, being now read as follows:

ORDERED, - That Bill C-5, An Act to establish the Canadian Tourism Commission be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Industry.

On Clause 1,

Terry Francis made a statement and with Gerald Bailie answered questions.

At 4:31 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
