Meeting No. 15

Thursday, December 9, 1999

The Standing Committee on Industry met at 9:05 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Susan Whelan, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Pierre Brien, Marlene Jennings, Jim Jones and Susan Whelan.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Branch of the Library of Parliament: Gérald Lafrenière, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From the Consumers' Association of Canada: Gail Lacombe, President & CEO; Jennifer Hillard, Vice-President, Issues and Policy.

Pursuant to its Order of Reference of Thursday, October 28, 1999, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-276, An Act to amend the Competition Act, 1998 (negative option marketing) (See Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday, November 18, 1999 , Meeting No. 7).

The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.

At 9:56 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
