The Standing Committee on Industry met at 9:06 a.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Susan Whelan, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Pierre Brien, John Cannis, Marlene Jennings, Walt Lastewka, Gurbax Malhi, Dan McTeague, Ian Murray, Charlie Penson, Jerry Pickard, Nelson Riis and Susan Whelan.
Other Member present: Werner Schmidt.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Dan Shaw and Geoffrey Kiely, Research Officers.
Witness: From the Department of Industry, Competition Bureau: Konrad von Finckenstein, Commissioner of Competition; Gaston Jorré, Senior Deputy Commissioner of Competition; Don Mercer, Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Competition , Amendments Unit.
Pursuant to the Committee's mandate under Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced a review of the Competition Act.
Konrad von Finckenstein made a statement and with the other witnesses answered questions.
At 11:29 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
