The Standing Committee on Industry met at 3:44 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Susan Whelan, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: John Cannis, Antoine Dubé, Marlene Jennings, Gurbax Malhi, Dan McTeague, Ian Murray, Charlie Penson, Jerry Pickard, Nelson Riis and Susan Whelan.

Other Member present: Peter Adams.

In attendance from the Senate: The Hon. Jerry Grafstein.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Dan Shaw, Research Officer.

Appearing: The Hon. John Manley, Minister of Industry and The Hon. John Glenn, Former United States Senator.

Witnesses: From the Canadian Space Agency: William Macdonald Evans, President; Dr. Dave Williams, Canadian Astronaut and Director of Space and Life Sciences NASA (JSC).

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), a study on Space, Science and Technology: Contribution to Quality of Life.

The Hon. John Manley made a statement.

The Hon. John Glenn made a statement; made a video presentation and answered questions.

Dr. Williams made a statement and answered questions.

At 4:41 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
