MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS
Meeting No. 8
Tuesday, April 3, 2001
The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met in camera at 9:08 a.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Clifford Lincoln, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Sarmite Bulte, Rodger Cuzner, Christiane Gagnon, Cheryl Gallant, Gurmant Grewal, John Harvard, André Harvey, Clifford Lincoln, Dennis Mills, Shawn Murphy, Bryon Wilfert.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Terry Thomas, Research Officer.
In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to a discussion of future business.
It was agreed, - That the Committee hold a meeting to consider and report on the 2001-02 Main Estimates for the Department of Canadian Heritage (Multiculturalism);
- That the committee invite the Secretary of State for Multiculturalism and Status of Women, and senior officials to appear before the committee as soon as possible after March 30 or no later than May 31, 2001, and
- That the Secretary of State provide information relating to future expenditure plans, priorities and performance of the Department of Canadian Heritage - Multiculturalism/ Status of Women.
It was agreed, - That the principles of the Draft Terms of Reference for a study on the State of the Canadian Broadcasting System be adopted.
At 10:10 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
