Meeting No. 3

Thursday, March 1st, 2001

 

The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 9:07 o’clock a.m., this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Clifford Lincoln, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Paul Bonwick, Sarmite Bulte, Cheryl Gallant, John Harvard, Loyola Hearn, Wendy Lill, Clifford Lincoln, Dennis Mills.

 

Acting Member present: Shawn Murphy for Andrew Telegdi, Robert Lanctôt for Christiane Gagnon, Diane Bourgeois for Caroline St-Hilaire.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament:, Joe Jackson and Terry Thomas, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From Canadian Heritage: Michael Wernick, Assistant Deputy Minister, Cultural Development; Norman Moyer, Assistant Deputy Minister, Citizenship and Canadian Identity; Bill Peters, Director General, Canadian Conservation Institute; Nicole Bourget, Director General, Communications; Thérèse Roy, Acting Director General, Financial Management.

In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to a departmental briefing.

Michael Wernick made an opening statement and, with Norman Moyer, answered questions.

At 10:35 o’clock a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
