Tuesday, October 23, 2001

The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Vice-Chair, Dennis Mills, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Paul Bonwick, Sarmite Bulte, Rodger Cuzner, Claude Duplain, Christiane Gagnon, Dennis Mills, Tony Tirabassi.

Acting Members present: Andy Burton for Jim Abbott; Joe Comartin for Wendy Lill.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Joe Jackson and Mollie Dunsmuir, Research Officers.

Witnesses via videoconference from Kitimat, B.C.:  From the Sum-It Accounting Services: F.R. Stowell, President. From the Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine: Joanne Monaghan, Chair.

Pursuant to its Order of Reference of Thursday, May 10, 2001, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-10, An Act respecting the national marine conservation areas of Canada (See Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday, May 31, 2001, Meeting No. 13).

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 4:10 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
