Meeting No. 30

Monday, November 5, 2001

The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met in a televised session at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, David Pratt, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Rob Anders, Claude Bachand, Leon Benoit, Stan Dromisky, Cheryl Gallant, John O'Reilly, Janko Perić, David Pratt, David Price, Peter Stoffer, Elsie Wayne, Bryon Wilfert, Bob Wood.

Witnesses: From the Conference of Defence Associations: Lt-Gen Charles H. Belzile, (Retired), Chairman; Col Alain Pellerin, (Retired), Executive Director; Col Sean Henry, (Retired), Senior Defence Analyst. From the Canadian Defence Industries Association: Lt-Gen Patrick O'Donnell, (Retired), President; David Stapley, Executive Vice-President.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of its study on the state of readiness of the Canadian Forces.

Lieutenant-General (Retired) Belzile made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 4:26 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:31 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Lieutenant-General (Retired) O’Donnell made a statement and, with the other witness, answered questions.

At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
