Meeting No. 32

Tuesday, November 6, 2001

The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met in a televised session at 3:30 p.m., this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, David Pratt, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Rob Anders, Colleen Beaumier, Leon Benoit, Stan Dromisky, Cheryl Gallant, John O'Reilly, Janko Perić, Louis Plamondon, David Pratt, Carmen Provenzano, Peter Stoffer, Elsie Wayne, Bryon Wilfert, Bob Wood.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Wolf Koerner; Michel Rossignol, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Department of National Defence: Major Doug Palmer, Project Director, Clothe the Soldier;Vadm. G.R. Maddison, Deputy Chief of Defence Staff; Cmdre J.Y.J.C. Forcier, Chief of Staff J3 / Director General, Military Plans and Operations; Patricia Samson, Director General, Intelligence.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), study on the state of readiness of the Canadian Forces.

Major Doug Palmer made an opening statement and answered questions.

Vadm. G.R. Maddison made an opening statement, and with the witnesses, answered questions.

At 5:31 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:33 p.m., the Committee proceeded in camera for the discussion of its interim report.

At 5:37 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
