Meeting No. 5

Thursday, March 22, 2001

The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, David Pratt, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Claude Bachand, Peter Goldring, Judi Longfield, John O'Reilly, David Pratt, David Price, Peter Stoffer, Elsie Wayne, Bob Wood.

Acting Members present: Leon Benoit for Roy Bailey, Ivan Grose for Bryon Wilfert, Gilles Perron for Louis Plamondon.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Wolf Koerner; Michel Rossignol.

Witnesses: From the Department of National Defence: Col Ken Scott, Director, Medical Policy. From the Royal Military College of Canada: Dr. Edward A. Ough, Research Associate, Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee convened for an information session on depleted uranium.

Leon Benoit sought the Committee's unanimous consent to hear Mrs. Paula Richmond with respect to his son's situation.

Unanimous consent was denied.

Elsie Wayne sought the Committee's unanimous consent to reopen the issue relating to Mrs. Paula Richmond's appearance before the Committee.

Unanimous consent was denied.

At 5:35 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
