The Standing Committee on Transport and Government Operations met at 11:05 a.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Ovid Jackson, presiding.
Member(s) of the Committee present: Bev Desjarlais, André Harvey, Mario Laframboise, Marcel Proulx, Alex Shepherd, Paul Szabo.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: John Christopher, Research Officer.
Witness(es): From the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada: André Foucault, Secretary-Treasurer; Keith Newman, Director of Research; Julie White, Researcher; Blaine Stevens, Truck driver, Local 605 Saskatoon; Brenda Hicks, Wife of Darryl Hicks; Darryl Hicks, Truck driver, Local 605 Prince Albert.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on Truckers Hours of Service, safety concerns and transborder/border crossing issues, and their impact on the Canadian trucking industry.
André Foucault made an opening statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
At 12:35 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
