The Standing Committee on Transport and Government Operations met at 10:07 a.m. this day, in Room 269 West block, the Chair, Ovid Jackson presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Joe Comuzzi, André Harvey, Ovid Jackson, Mario Laframboise, Ghislain Lebel, Val Meredith, Marcel Proulx, Alex Shepherd, Paul Szabo.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: John Christopher; June Dewetering, Researchers.
Witnesses: From the Transport Canada: William J.S. Elliott, Assistant Deputy Minister, Safety and Security Group; Jean LeCours, Director, Preventive Security; Diane Brunet, Chief, Preventative Security Programs, Security and Emergency Programs. From the Greater Toronto Airport Authority: Louis Turpen, President and Chief Executive Officer, Peter Gregg, General Manager, Media and Communications.
In accordance with Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of its study on the current state of airline safety and security in Canada.
William J.S. Elliott and Jean Lecours made an opening statement and, with the other witness, answered questions.
At 11:33 a.m. the sitting was suspended.
At 11:45 a.m. the sitting was resumed.
Louis Turpen made an opening statement and answered questions.
At, 1:00 p.m. the Committee adjourned until 3:30 p.m.
