Meeting No. 30

Thursday, November 8, 2001

The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 9:10 a.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, Wayne Easter, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Sarkis Assadourian, Andy Burton, Wayne Easter, Loyola Hearn, James Lunney, Jean-Yves Roy, Paul Steckle, Peter Stoffer, Tom Wappel.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Alan Nixon, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From the Nisga'a Tribal Council: Joseph Gosnell, President; Harry Nyce, Director of Fish and Wildlife; James Aldridge, Legal Counsel; Karl English, Consultant.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), briefing session on the implementation of the Nisga'a Treaty.

Joseph Gosnell made a statement.

Karl English made a presentation.

The witnesses answered questions.

At 10:50 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
