Meeting No. 22

Wednesday, October 3, 2001

The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block.

Members of the Committee present: Andy Burton, John Cummins, Rodger Cuzner, Wayne Easter, Georges Farrah, Loyola Hearn, Dominic LeBlanc, Bill Matthews, Lawrence O'Brien, Jean-Yves Roy, Paul Steckle, Peter Stoffer.

Acting Members present: Lynne Yelich for James Lunney, Guy St-Julien for Tom Wappel.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Alan Nixon, Research Officer.

Pursuant to Standing Order 106(1) and (2), election of a Chair and Vice-Chairs.

The Clerk presided over the election of the Chair.

On the motion of Peter Stoffer, it was agreed, - That Wayne Easter be elected Chair of the Committee.

Accordingly, the Clerk declared Wayne Easter duly elected Chair in absentia.

The Clerk presided over the election of an Acting Chair.

On the motion of Peter Stoffer, it was agreed, - That Lawrence O’Brien be elected Acting Chair of the Committee.

On the motion of Andy Burton, it was agreed, - That John Cummins be elected Vice-Chair of the Committee.

On the motion of Bill Matthews, it was agreed, - That Paul Steckle be elected Vice-Chair of the Committee.

At 3:41 p.m. Lawrence O’Brien left the Chair.

At 3:41 p.m. Wayne Easter took the Chair.

At 3:46 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
