Meeting No. 53

Tuesday, May 28, 2002

The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met in camera at 9:15 a.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, Wayne Easter, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Andy Burton, John Cummins, Wayne Easter, Georges Farrah, Dominic LeBlanc, Bill Matthews, Jean-Yves Roy, Paul Steckle, Peter Stoffer.

Acting Members present: John Efford for Sarkis Assadourian, Joe McGuire for Rodger Cuzner.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Alan Nixon, Research Officer.

It was agreed, – That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request a comprehensive Government response to the Committee’s Seventh Report, tabled in the House May 3, 2002;

That this request be considered the Committee’s Ninth Report to the House; and

That the Chair present the said report to the House.

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report on the implications of extending Canada's Exclusive Economic Zone to include the Nose and Tail of the Grand Banks and the Flemish Cap (See Minutes of Proceedings of Monday, March 11, 2002, Meeting No. 42).

At 11:00 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
