Meeting No. 19

Tuesday, September 18, 2001

The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 9:19 a.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, Wayne Easter, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Sarkis Assadourian, John Cummins, Wayne Easter, Georges Farrah, Gerald Keddy, Dominic LeBlanc, Bill Matthews, Jean-Yves Roy, Paul Steckle, Peter Stoffer, Tom Wappel.

Acting Member present: David Chatters for John Duncan.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Alan Nixon, Research Officer.

It was agreed, - That the Sub-Committee on Agenda and Procedure consider the following, assign a priority to each and report back to the Committee: Review of the Oceans Act, Aquaculture Study, Fisheries at Burnt Church, NB, Fraser River Salmon Allocations, Atlantic Fisheries Policy Review results, activities of the Independent Panel on Access Criteria, Newfoundland Shrimp Fishery, Dogfish Quotas.

It was agreed, - That Gerald Keddy would prepare a briefing note for the Members on dogfish quota issues.

It was agreed, - That Sarkis Assadourian would prepare briefing material for the Members on aquaculture in Ontario.

At 9:58 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
