Monday, November 19, 2001

The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 2:20 p.m. this day, in the Gymnasium of the Steveston Buddhist Temple, Richmond, British Columbia, the Vice-Chair, John Cummins, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: John Cummins, Rodger Cuzner, Georges Farrah, Loyola Hearn, James Lunney, Peter Stoffer, Suzanne Tremblay, Tom Wappel.

Other Member present: Joe Peschisolido.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Alan Nixon, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From the B.C. Fisheries Survival Coalition: Phil Eidsvik, Spokesperson. From the Area E Gillnetters Association: Mike Forrest, Director; Ken Connolly, Salmon Co-ordinator. From the Gulf Trollers Association – Area H: Mike Griswold, President. From the Fishing Vessel Owners of British Columbia: Robert Rezansoff. From the United Fishermen and Allied Workers Union – West Coast: John Radosevic, President; John Sutcliffe, Vice-President. As Individual: Robert Nomura. As Individual: Gary Sonnenberg. As Individual: Bruce Probert. From the B.C. Vietnamese Fishermen’s Association: Kim Nguyen, Spokesperson. As Individual: Larry Wick. As Individual: Mike Haffenden.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), a meeting on the Fraser River salmon fisheries.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 8:12 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
