Thursday, November 1st, 2001
The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs, Northern Development and Natural Resources met at 11:07 a.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Raymond Bonin, presiding.
Member(s) of the Committee present: Gérard Binet, Raymond Bonin, Serge Cardin, Jean-Guy Carignan, David Chatters, John Finlay, John Godfrey, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, Gerald Keddy, Benoît Serré, Guy St-Julien.
Acting Member(s) present: Joe Comartin for Pat Martin.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, researcher.
Witness(es): From the Ontario Power Generation Inc.: Richard Dicerni, Executive Vice-President and Corporate Secretary; Helen Howes, Vice-President of Sustainable Development; Ken Nash, Vice-President, Nuclear Waste Management Division. From the New Brunswick Power Corporation: Rod White, Vice-President, Nuclear; Laurie Comeau, Manager, Health Physics; Peter Dykeman, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. From the Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd.: Dr. David Torgerson, Senior Vice-President, Technology; David Tregunno, Director, External Relations.
Pursuant to its Order of Reference of Tuesday, October 2, 2001 the Committee considered Bill C-27, An Act respecting the long-term management of nuclear fuel waste.
Richard Dicerni, Rod White and David Torgerson made statements.
David Torgerson, Richard Dicerni,. Rod White and Ken Nash answered questions.
At 12:50 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
