MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 51

Thursday, May 23, 2002

The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs, Northern Development and Natural Resources met in camera at 11:11 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Raymond Bonin, presiding.

Member(s) of the Committee present: Larry Bagnell, Gérard Binet, Raymond Bonin, David Chatters, John Godfrey, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, Inky Mark, Guy St-Julien, Maurice Vellacott.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Mary Hurley and Carole Hilling, research officers.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of its future business.

It was agreed, - That the amount of $517,356.00 be adopted as the operational budget of the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs, Northern Development and Natural Resources in relation to its study of the Indian Act Governance Legislation, and that the said budget be present to the Budget Sub-Committee of the Liaison Committee for its approval.

It was agreed, - That, in relation to its study of the Indian Act Governance Legislation, the amount of $681,804.00 be adopted as the travel budget of the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs, Northern Development and Natural Resources, and that the said budget be present to the Budget Sub-Committee of the Liaison Committee for its approval.

It was agreed, - That, the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs, Northern Development and Natural Resources be authorized to travel from place to place within Canada during its proceedings in relation to its study of the Indian Act Governance Legislation, and that the necessary staff do accompany the Committee.

At 12:06 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
