The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs, Northern Development and Natural Resources met in a televised session at 11:07 a.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Raymond Bonin, presiding.
Member(s) of the Committee present: Larry Bagnell, Raymond Bonin, Reed Elley, John Finlay, John Godfrey, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, Richard Marceau, Guy St-Julien.
Acting Member(s) present: Deborah Grey for Gerald Keddy.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages and Mary Hurley, researchers.
Witness(es): From the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development: John Sinclair, Senior Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy and Strategic Direction; Pierre Gauvin, Assistant Director, Corporate Information Management; Dan Beavon, Acting Strategic Director, Research and Analysis.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced consideration of an overview of the Indian Act (See Minutes of Proceedings of February 19, 2002).
John Sinclair made an opening statement, and, with the witnesses, answered questions.
At 12:21 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
