René Villemure moved, — That, in relation to its study of device investigation tools used by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the committee invite to testify in camera :

1. Michel Juneau-Katsuya, expert and researcher on national security and intelligence issues, for one hour to continue his testimony begun on Tuesday, August 9, 2022;
2. invite Richard Fadden, retired National Security Advisor, for one hour;
3. that these witnesses be heard no later than Wednesday September 28, 2022.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on division.

It was agreed, — That in relation to the upcoming study on Access to Information and Privacy system, members submit their preliminary lists of suggested witness to the clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2022.

At 3:45 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:48 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Facial Recognition Technology And The Growing Power Of Artificial Intelligence".

It was agreed, — That the Chair, clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to the report.

It was agreed, — That dissenting or supplementary opinions be in Calibri 12-point font, left aligned, single-spaced, and be submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the clerk of the committee, not later than 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2022.

It was agreed, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

It was agreed, — That the clerk and analysts of the committee, in consultation with the Chair, prepare a news release for publication on the committee’s website and for distribution upon presentation of the report to the House.

It was agreed, — That the clerk of the committee make the necessary arrangements for a press conference to be held after the presentation of the committee's report to the House on the use and impact of facial recognition technology; and that the committee be represented by the Chair and a representative from each party.
