The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

Motion

Michael Barrett moved, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(1)(a) the committee summon the following witnesses to appear before the committee for no less than one hour together, during the week of July 15:

(a) Kirsten Poon – Navis Group; and

(b) Stephen Anderson – Global Health Imports.

Debate arose thereon.

At 11:12 a.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 11:22 a.m., the meeting resumed.

Amendment

Matthew Green moved, — That the motion be amended by replacing the word “summon” with the word “invite” and by adding ", 2024" after the words "July 15".

Debate arose thereon.

The question was put on the amendment of Matthew Green and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:

YEAS: Parm Bains, Pam Damoff, Darren Fisher, Matthew Green, Anthony Housefather, Iqra Khalid, René Villemure — 7;

NAYS: Michael Barrett, Larry Brock, Michael Cooper — 3.

The question was put on the motion, as amended, and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:

YEAS: Parm Bains, Michael Barrett, Larry Brock, Michael Cooper, Pam Damoff, Darren Fisher, Matthew Green, Anthony Housefather, Iqra Khalid, René Villemure — 10;

NAYS: — 0.

The motion, as amended, read as follows:

That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(1)(a) the committee invite the following witnesses to appear before the committee for no less than one hour together, during the week of July 15, 2024:

(a) Kirsten Poon – Navis Group; and

(b) Stephen Anderson – Global Health Imports.

Motion

Matthew Green moved, — That, notwithstanding the previous decision to hold a meeting during the week of July 15, 2024, as per the usual practice of House of Commons standing committees, the committee shall not meet during Parliament’s summer recess unless the requirements of Standing Order106(4) of the Standing Orders are met.
