Meeting No. 30
Tuesday, October 16, 2001
The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met at 9:02 a.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Joe Fontana, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Mark Assad, Joe Fontana, Steve Mahoney, Inky Mark, Anita Neville, Jerry Pickard, David Price, Judy Wasylycia-Leis, Lynne Yelich.
Acting Member present: Raymond Lavigne for Yvon Charbonneau.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Benjamin Dolin.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) - Study on the Security at Ports of Entry in Canada.
The Committee proceeded to its future business.
On motion of Jerry Pickard, it was agreed, - That in relation to its study on security at points of entry in Canada, the
Committee seeks authorization from the House to travel to Washington, D.C.
during the week of October 29; and that half the Committee travel to various
points of entry in Western Canada while the other half of the Committee travel
to various points of entry in Eastern Canada both during the week of November
5, 2001, and that the necessary staff do accompany the Committee.
On motion of Inky Mark, it was agreed, - That the Committee approve the proposed travel budget to Washington, D.C. of $66,345.00 and that the Chairman be authorized to present it to the Liaison Committee for its approval.
On motion of Lynn Yelich, it was agreed, - That the Committee approve the proposed travel budget of $19,268.00 to Eastern Canada and of $27,299.00 to Western Canada and that the Chairman be authorized to present it to the liaison Committee for its approval and that members of the committee use one of their point for this trip.
At 9:30 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
