MINUTES OF PROCEEDING

Tuesday, October 21, 1997

The Standing Committee on Finance met at 9:20 o’clock a.m., this day, in the Salon A and B, Fredericton, the Vice-Chair, Paddy Torsney, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Roger Gallaway, David Iftody, Jim Jones, Gilles A. Perron, Gerry Ritz and Paddy Torsney.

Other Member present: Angela Vautour.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch: Richard Domingue, Research Officer.

Witnesses: Round Table 1 -- From the Fredericton Area Network Inc.: Chris Grady, President. From the New Brunswick Nurses Association: Linda Silas, President. From the New Brunswick Federation of Labour: John Murphy, Executive Secrtary. From the Fredericton Area Common Front for Social Justice: Brian Perkins-McIntosh, Spokesperson. From the Lighthouse Family Resource Centre Inc.: John Mahar, President. From "Le Comité des douze": Claude Snow, Spokesperson. From the University of New Brunswick: Frank Dunn, Planned Giving Officer. From the"Coalition de Moncton pour la justice économique et sociale": Jean-Claude Basque, Spokesperson and Adrien Légère.

In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 83.1, the Committee resumed its Pre-Budget Consultation Study. (See Minutes of Proceedings of Wednesday, October 15, 1997, Meeting No. 3).

The witnesses participating in Round Table One made statements and answered questions.

At 10:11 o’clock a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:23 o’clock a.m., the sitting resumed.

At 11:24 o’clock a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
