MINUTES OF PROCEEDING

Tuesday, December 9, 1997

The Standing Committee on Finance met in camera at 9:02 o’clock a.m., this day, in room 307, West Block, the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Maurizio Bevilacqua, David Iftody, Jim Jones, Gilles A. Perron, Gary Pillitteri, Karen Redman, Nelson Riis, Gerry Ritz, Monte Solberg and Paddy Torsney.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Richard Domingue and Marion Wrobel, Research Officers.

The Committee met to consider its future business.

On motion of Jim Jones, it was agreed, -That the Committee approve the proposed supplementary budget of $ 30,000 to cover the costs associated with printing 7,000 additional copies of the Committee’s Report Keeping the Balance: Security and Opportunity for Canadians, and that the Chair be authorized to present the said budget to the Liaison Committee.

It was agreed, -That the Sub-Committee on Agenda and Procedure meet at 10:00 o’clock a.m. on Thursday, February 5, 1998.

It was further agreed, -That members of the Committee submit their proposals for future studies to the Chair by Thursday, January 15, 1998.

At 9:07 o’clock a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
