Friday, November 7, 1997
The Standing Committee on Finance met in televised session at 9:05 o’clock a.m., this day, in room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Mark Assad, Maurizio Bevilacqua, Roger Gallaway, Jim Jones, Karen Redman, Paul Szabo, Paddy Torsney and Tony Valeri.
Acting Members present: Antoine Dubé for Yvan Loubier; Rob Anders for Gerry Ritz.
Associate Member present: Lorne Nystrom.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Richard Domingue and Marion Wrobel, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From the Atlantic Institute of Market Studies: Don Cayo; Fred McMahon. From William Mercer Ltd.: Malcolm Hamilton, Daniel McCaw.
The Committee resumed its examination of Bill C-2, An Act to establish the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and to amend the Canada Pension Plan and the Old Age Security and to make consequential amendments to other Acts. (See Minutes of Proceedings, Tuesday, October 28, Meeting No. 30).
Fred McMahon, Daniel McCaw and Malcolm Hamilton made statements and, with Don Cayo, answered questions.
At 10:37 o’clock a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
