The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 228, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Marie-Claude Morin, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dan Albas, Stella Ambler, Niki Ashton, Joyce Bateman, Anne-Marie Day, Mylène Freeman, Roxanne James, Marie-Claude Morin, Tilly O'Neill Gordon, Hon. Judy Sgro, Susan Truppe and Wai Young.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Havi Echenberg, Analyst; Laura Munn-Rivard, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 3:33 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:33 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

It was agreed, — That the Eighth Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, which read as follows, be concurred in:

1. That, with regard to the Committee's study of improving economic prospects for Canadian girls:

a. the Committee provide instructions to the analysts for the drafting of a report at its meeting of Monday, June 18, 2012;

b. the first draft report be distributed to members of the Committee by Monday, August 13, 2012;

c. additional recommendations be submitted to the Clerk by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 24, 2012;

d. a revised draft of the report, including additional recommendations, be distributed to members of the Committee during the week of September 10, 2012;

e. the Committee start consideration of the draft report during the week of September 17, 2012; and

f. the adopted report be presented to the House of Commons no later than October 5, 2012.

2. That, with regard to the Committee's study of sexual harassment in federally-regulated workplaces:

a. each party submit its list of suggested witnesses to the Clerk by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 8, 2012;

b. the initial list of witnesses for the study be considered at the Committee meeting of Wednesday, June 13, 2012;

c. the briefing sessions on the study be scheduled to take place at the earliest opportunity following the return of the House of Commons in September 2012; and

d. arrangements be made for witness appearances to be televised, whenever possible.

 

It was agreed, — That, for the study of sexual harassment in federally-regulated workplaces, arrangements be made for witnesses based outside the National Capital region to appear by videoconference whenever possible and cost effective.

 

It was agreed, — That the next meeting be scheduled for Wednesday, June 13, 2012.

 

At 4:09 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
