The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met in a televised session at 11:04 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Marie-Claude Morin, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Stella Ambler, Niki Ashton, Joyce Bateman, Joan Crockatt, Anne-Marie Day, Roxanne James, Marie-Claude Morin, Tilly O'Neill Gordon, Hon. Judy Sgro, Susan Truppe and Wai Young.

Acting Members present: Carol Hughes for Niki Ashton and Isabelle Morin for Sana Hassainia.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Havi Echenberg, Analyst ; Laura Munn-Rivard, Analyst.

Appearing: Hon. Rona Ambrose, Minister for Status of Women.

Witnesses: Status of Women Canada: Suzanne Clément, Coordinator and Head of Agency, Office of the Coordinator; Johanne Tremblay, Acting Director, Corporate Services; Sébastien Goupil, Director General, Policy and External Relations; Linda Savoie, Director General, Women's Program and Regional Operations Directorate.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, the Committee commenced its study of expenditure plans for Status of Women Canada in 2012-13.

Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2013-14: Votes 25 and 30 under HUMAN RESOURCES AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT referred to the Committee on Monday, February 25, 2013.

The Chair called Vote 25 under HUMAN RESOURCES AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT.

The Minister made a statement and, with Suzanne Clément, answered questions.

At 12:01 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:09 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Suzanne Clément, Johanne Tremblay, Sébastien Goupil and Linda Savoie answered questions.

Susan Truppe moved, — That the Committee proceed today with the votes on the Main Estimates 2013-14.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 7; NAYS: 0.

Vote 25 under HUMAN RESOURCES AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT carried by a show of hands: YEAS: 7; NAYS: 2.

The Chair called Vote 30 under HUMAN RESOURCES AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT.

Vote 30 under HUMAN RESOURCES AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT carried by a show of hands: YEAS: 7; NAYS: 2.

ORDERED, — That the Chair report Votes 25 and 30, under HUMAN RESOURCES AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT, to the House.

At 1:06 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
