The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met in a televised session at 8:50 a.m. this day, in Room C-110, 1 Wellington Street, the Chair, Marie-Claude Morin, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Stella Ambler, Niki Ashton, Jay Aspin, Joyce Bateman, Anne-Marie Day, Sana Hassainia, Roxanne James, Marie-Claude Morin, Tilly O'Neill Gordon, Susan Truppe and Wai Young.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Carolyn Bennett for Hon. Judy Sgro.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Havi Echenberg, Analyst; Laura Munn-Rivard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Statistics Canada: Geoff Bowlby, Director, Special Surveys.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, the Committee resumed its study of sexual harassment in the federal workplace.
 

Geoff Bowlby made a statement and answered questions.

 

Niki Ashton gave notice of the following motion:

That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee invite the Minister for Status of Women Canada to appear, no later than Thursday, November 22, 2012, to discuss the 2012 Budget and the 2012-2013 Report on Plans and Priorities for Status of Women Canada; that the Minister’s opening statement not exceed ten (10) minutes; and that the Minister’s appearance be televised.

 

At 9:47 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:51 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

It was agreed, — That, notwithstanding any decision made prior, the meeting of the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure scheduled from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on this day be cancelled, and that the discussion regarding additional witnesses for the study of sexual harassment in the federal workplace take place during the Committee meeting scheduled for Tuesday, November 6, 2012.

 

It was agreed, — That, notwithstanding any decision made prior, the Committee meeting scheduled for Thursday, November 8, 2012, be cancelled.

 

At 9:54 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
