The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met in camera at 4:29 p.m. this day, in Room 228, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Irene Mathyssen, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dan Albas, Stella Ambler, Joyce Bateman, Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet, Ruth Ellen Brosseau, Mylène Freeman, Roxanne James, Irene Mathyssen, Hon. Judy Sgro, Susan Truppe and Wai Young.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Havi Echenberg, Analyst; Laura Munn-Rivard, Analyst. House of Commons: Michelle Tittley, Procedural Clerk.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite the Commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to provide testimony, as soon as possible, concerning the role and challenges of women employed by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

 

It was agreed, - That the Sixth Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, which read as follows, be concurred in:

  1. That the Committee adopt the following work plan for the study of improving economic prospects for Canadian girls:
    1. That meetings related to this study be divided into two one-hour panels with two organizations per panel.
    2. That the meetings of Wednesday, February 29, 2012 and Wednesday, March 7, 2012 be devoted to briefings with senior officials from Status of Women Canada regarding the study.
    3. That any additional suggestions for witnesses be submitted to the Clerk by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2012.
    4. That the Committee begin to hear from witnesses the week of March 12, 2012.
  2. That the meeting of Monday, February 27, 2012 be devoted to Committee business.
  3. That on the meeting of Monday, March 5, 2012 the Committee start consideration of the draft report on the study of abuse of older women.
 

It was agreed, — That all parties submit their recommendations for inclusion in the draft report of the study of abuse of older women to the Clerk by noon on Monday, February 27, 2012.

 

At 4:56 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
