The Standing Committee on Finance met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D Centre Block, the Clerk of the Committee, Richard Dupuis, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Sue Barnes, Scott Brison, Rick Casson, Roy Cullen, Nick Discepola, Albina Guarnieri, Richard Harris, Maria Minna, Shawn Murphy, Pierre Paquette, Pauline Picard, Gary Pillitteri, Monte Solberg, Tony Valeri, Judy Wasylycia-Leis and Bryon Wilfert.

 

Acting Members present: David Price for Sophia Leung, James Rajotte for Richard Harris, Peter Stoffer for Judy Wasylycia-Leis and Lynne Yelich for Rahim Jaffer.

The Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of a Chair.
 

On motion of Shawn Murphy, it was agreed, --That Sue Barnes be elected Chair of this Committee.

 

On motion of Gary Pillitteri, it was agreed, --That Nick Discepola be elected as Government Vice-Chair of the Committee.

 

On motion of Rick Casson, it was agreed, --That Monte Solberg be elected as Opposition Vice-Chair of the Committee.

 
Sue Barnes, duly elected Chair of the Committee, took the Chair.
 

At 3:39 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:39 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 83(1), the Committee resumed its pre-budget consultations.
 

Panel I: Marc-André Charlebois, Anthony P. Pollard, Jeffrey Dale, Mario Tombari and Michelle Mulder made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 5:10 p.m., the Committee commenced consideration of the subject-matter of Bill C-48, An Act to amend the Income Tax Act (natural resources).

 

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance, Bryon Wilfert, made a statement.

 

At 5:25 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 6:01 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Tuesday, September 30, 2003, the Committee commenced consideration of Bill C-48, An Act to amend the Income Tax Act (natural resources).
 

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance, Bryon Wilfert with Louise Levonian and James R. Greene, answered questions.

 

At 6:47 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
