The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 3:37 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Sue Barnes, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Sue Barnes, Roy Cullen, Nick Discepola, Richard Harris, Shawn Murphy, The Hon. Lorne Nystrom, Tony Valeri, Bryon Wilfert.
Acting Member(s) present: Mario Laframboise
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, researcher; Marc-André Pigeon.
Witnesses: As Individual: Dr. Robert L. Brown. From the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan Board: Brian Gibson, Senior Vice President, Active Equities. From the Federation of Canadian Municipalities: James Knight, Chief Executive Officer and Susan Welke, Policy Analyst.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee resumed its study on the public interest implications of large bank mergers.
Dr. Robert L. Brown and Brian Gibson made a statement and answered questions.
At 4:40 p.m. the sitting was suspended.
At 4:43 p.m. the sitting resumed.
James Knight made a statement and answered questions.
At 5:28 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
