The Standing Committee on Finance met at 9:00 a.m. this day, in Vancouver at the Renaissance Vancouver Hotel in Harbourside Ballroom 1, the Vice-Chair, Nick Discepola, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Roy Cullen, Nick Discepola, Sophia Leung and Shawn Murphy.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, Acting Principal. From the Committees Directorate: Diane Deschamps, Committee Clerk.
Witnesses: From the City of Vancouver: Philip W. Owen, Mayor. From the Greater Vancouver Transportation Authority: Doug McCallum, Chair, Mayor of Surrey; Robert Paddon, Vice-President,, Corporate and Public Affairs. From the Pacific Coastal Airlines Limited: Quentin Smith, President; Daryl Smith, Chief Executive Officer; Dave Menzies, Operations Manager, Hawk Air. From Triumf: Dr. Jean-Michel Poutissou. From the University of British Columbia: Dr. Allan Tupper, Associate Vice-President, Government Relations. Pursuant to Standing Order 83.1, the Committee continued its pre-budget discussions.
Alan Tupper, Jean-Michel Poutissou, Daryl Smith, Doug McCallum and Philip W. Owen made opening statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
At 10:33 a.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 10:45 a.m., the sitting resumed.
Janice Loomer Margolis, Sheila Davidson, Penny Perlotto, Carl Mashon and Keith Peterson made opening statements and answered questions.
At 11:54 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
