The Sub-Committee on Corrections and Conditional Release Act of the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met in a televised session at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Paul DeVillers, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Paul DeVillers, Jim Gouk, Ivan Grose, Peter MacKay, Richard Marceau, Jacques Saada and Tom Wappel.
Other Member present: Jim Abbott.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Lynn Casavant, Researcher; Philip Rosen, Senior Analyst.
Appearing: From the Ministry of the Solicitor General of Canada: The Hon. Lawrence MacAulay, Solicitor General of Canada.
Witnesses: From the Correctional Service of Canada: Ole Ingstrup, Commissioner. From the National Parole Board: Willie Gibbs, Chairman.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), a statutory review of the Corrections and Conditional Release Act.
The Minister made an opening statement and with Ole Ingstrup and Willie Gibbs answered questions.
At 5:17 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 5:27 p.m., the sitting resumed.
Willie Gibbs made an opening statement and answered questions.
At 6:22 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
