Monday, March 8, 1999
The Sub-Committee on Corrections and Conditional Release Act of the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Paul DeVillers, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Paul DeVillers, Jim Gouk, Ivan Grose, Peter MacKay, Richard Marceau, Lynn Myers and Tom Wappel.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Lynn Casavant, Researcher; Philip Rosen, Senior Analyst.
Witnesses:From the " Barreau du Québec ": Carole Brosseau, Lawyer; Jacques Normandeau, Lawyer; From the Canadian Bar Association: Michael Jackson, Committee on Imprisonment & Release; Allan Manson, Committee on Imprisonment & Release; Tamra L. Thomson, Director, Legislation and Law Reform.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108 (2), a statutory review of the Corrections and Conditional Release Act.
The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.
At 6:00 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 6:01 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.
The Committee considered its future business.
It was agreed, - That the travel itinerary for the Sub-Committee's eastern tour from March 14 to 18 be approved.
At 6:10 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
