MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS
(Meeting No. 6)

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 1998

 

The Sub-Committee on the Study of Sport in Canada of the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 3:43 o’clock p.m., this day, in room 208 West Block, the Chair, Dennis Mills, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Dennis Mills, Denis Coderre, Pat O'Brien, Suzanne Tremblay and Peter G. MacKay.


Acting Members present: John O'Reilly for George Proud.

 

Other Member present: Beth Phinney.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Claude Blanchette, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From Triathlon Canada: William J. Hallett, President; Patrice Brunet, Director; and Norman O'Reilly, National Team Manager. From Non-Federally Funded Olympic Sports: James Bandola, Executive Director, Ski Jumping Canada; Kathy Millar, Federation of Canadian Archers Inc.; Neil Wilson, Canadian Snowboard Federation; and Jocelyn Langlois, Shooting Federation of Canada. From Athletes CAN: Lori Johnstone, Chair.

 

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed the consideration of the Study of Sport in Canada.

 

William J. Hallett, Patrice Brunet, James Bandola and Lori Johnstone made opening statements and with Norman O'Reilly, Kathy Millar, Neil Wilson and Jocelyn Langlois, answered questions.

 

At 5:45 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
