Meeting No. 20

Wednesday, October 21, 1998

The Sub-Committee on the Study of Sport in Canada met, in a televised session, at 3:34 o'clock p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Dennis Mills, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Denis Coderre, Inky Mark, Dennis Mills, Pat O'Brien and Suzanne Tremblay.

Acting Members present: Paul Bonwick for Albina Guarnieri; Carmen Provenzano for George Proud; Dick Procter for Wendy Lill.

Other Members present: Joe Comuzzi, John Cannis and Joe Volpe.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Claude Blanchette, Researcher.

Witnesses: From the Molson Breweries: Jeff Carefoote, Senior Vice-President. From the Coaching Association of Canada: John Bales, President; Eric King, Vice-President; Tom Kinsman, Coaching Consultant & Executive Director; Carolyne Hudson, Promotions & Communications Co-ordinator. From the Lang and Associates: Chris Lang, Chairman; Dan Thompson, Principal "Architectus";

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Sub-Committee resumed consideration of the Study of Sport in Canada.

Jeff Carefoote made opening statement and answered questions.

John Bales made an opening statement and with the other witnesses answered questions.

Chris Lang and Dan Thompson made opening statements and answered questions.

At 6:10 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
