MINUTES OF PROCEEDING
(Meeting No. 3)

MONDAY, DECEMBER 1, 1997

The Sub-Committee on the Study of Sport in Canada of the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 4:03 o’clock p.m., this day, in room 269 West Block, the Chair, Dennis Mills, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Dennis Mills, Denis Coderre, Pat O'Brien, George Proud and Suzanne Tremblay.

Acting Members present: Carmen Provenzano for Albina Guarnieri.

Other Member present: John Candice and Elsie Wayne.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Finn Poschman and Claude Blanchette, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Department of Canadian Heritage: Norman Moyer, Assistant Deputy Minister, Citizenship and Canadian Culture and Dan Smith, Director General, Sports Canada.

Norman Moyer and Dan Smith made opening statements and answered questions.

It was agreed,--That the questionnaire regarding the study on sports be prepared by the Research be approved.

At 5:20 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
