Wednesday, October 28, 1998
The Sub-Committee on the Study of Sport in Canada met at 3:40 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Acting Chair, Denis Coderre, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Denis Coderre, Peter MacKay and Inky Mark.
Acting Members present: Nancy Karetak-Lindell for Albina Guarnieri; Carmen Provenzano for George Proud; Wayne Easter for Dennis Mills; John Solomon for Suzanne Tremblay.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Claude Blanchette, Researcher.
Witnesses: From the Assembly of First Nations: Ted Nolan, Representative and Paulette Tremblay, Education Director.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Sub-Committee resumed consideration of the Study of Sport in Canada.
The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.
On motion of Wayne Easter, seconded by Peter Mackay, it was agreed,--That the Sub-Committee on the Study of Sport in Canada of the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage seek authority to sit in a televised session in Toronto on November 10, 1998 with the NHL Players' Association.
At 4:55 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
