MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 13

TUESDAY, MAY 26, 1998

The Sub-Committee on Human Rights and International Development of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 9:09 o’clock a.m., this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Colleen Beaumier, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Jean Augustine, Colleen Beaumier, Maud Debien, Keith Martin.

Other Member present: Daniel Turp.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Gerald Schmitz, Research Officer.

Witnesses: Canadian Lawyers Association for International Human Rights: Salim Fakirani, Member; Robert Young, Member; Jarat Chopra, Member.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Sub-Committee proceeded to consider the conflict in the Western Sahara Region.

The witnesses each made an opening statement and answered questions.

 

At 10:04 o’clock a.m., the Sub-Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
