MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 9

 

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 1998

 

The Sub-Committee on Human Rights and International Development of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met in camera at 3:40 o’clock p.m., this day, in Room 208, West Block, the Chair, Colleen Beaumier, presiding.

 

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Jean Augustine, Colleen Beaumier, Paul Bonwick, Claudette Bradshaw, Maud Debien, Raymonde Folco.

 

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: . Gerald Schmitz, Research Officer.

 

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Sub-Committee resumed consideration of its draft report on International Child Abductions.

 

Ordered, -- That the Committee staff obtain an opinion on the legal implications of Recommendation Ten (10) of the draft report and report back to the Sub-Committee.

 

It was agreed, --That with the exception of Recommendation Ten (10) the report, as amended, be adopted as the First Report of the Sub-Committee.

 

It was agreed, --That the Chair be authorized to make such typographical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

At 4:27 o’clock p.m., the Sub-Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
