MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 1997 The Sub-Committee on Human Rights and International Development of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 3:35 o’clock p.m., this day, in room 209, West Block, the Chair, Colleen Beaumier, presiding. Members of the Sub-Committee present: Jean Augustine, Colleen Beaumier, Claudette Bradshaw, Maud Debien, Raymonde Folco, Keith Martin, Diane St-Jacques. Other Member present: Bob Mills. In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Patricia Bégin, Research Officer. Witnesses: From the Department of Justice: Denis Kratchanov, Counsel, Public Law Policy; Sandra Zed-Finless, Justice Legal Services, Foreign Affairs; Bill Corbett, Criminal Law Branch. From the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: Gar Pardy, Consular Operations. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Sub-Committee commenced an examination of the issue of International Child Abductions. The witnesses made statements and answered questions. At 5:01 o’clock p.m., the Sub-Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair. |
