The Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 11:14 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Judi Longfield, presiding.

Member(s) of the Committee present: Eugène Bellemare, Libby Davies, Monique Guay, Tony Ianno, Judi Longfield, Gurbax Malhi, Raymond Simard and Diane St-Jacques.

Acting Member(s) present: Reed Elley for Monte Solberg.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Kevin Kerr and Bill Young, Research Officers.

Appearing: From the House of Commons: The Hon. Claudette Bradshaw, Minister of Labour.

Witness(es): From the Department of Human Resources Development: Neil Gavigan, Director, Labour Standards and Workplace Equity.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), status review of the government response to the Committee report on: "Promoting Equality in the Federal Jurisdiction: Review of the Employment Equity Act".

Hon. Claudette Bradshaw made a statement and with the other witness answered questions.

At 12:39 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
